About Jill Ronsley

Jill Ronsley is an editor and book designer. She has been engaged by the American Cancer Society publishing department for book cover design and interior book design. She has been a copy editor for two glossy lifestyle magazines, La Dolce Vita Magazine and City Life. For three years, she was the editor-in-chief of The Blue Review, a monthly online children's writers e-zine, for which she wrote two columns. She won the Best Book Editor 2005 award from the Editors and Preditors Readers Poll and has been a judge in several writing competitions. She is a member of the Bay Area Editors Forum and is listed in the CE-L Directory of Freelancer Editors, Indiana University. She is a member of Adobe InDesign User Group Chapters and Freelance Designers. She has written articles on editing, book design and writing. In 2010, she conducted a Special Event Workshop on “Editing & Book Design” for SavvyAuthors.com. She was a presenter at the Muse Online Writers Conference in 2009 and plans to return in 2010. In 2001, she started her own business.

Jill earned a BA at McGill University. She studied fine art at McGill and at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and has a diploma in languages and literature from Vanier College, where she studied English literature, French, German and Italian. She studied Hindi at McGill and French at the University of Grenoble.

As a designer, she has done interior book design and typesetting on works of nonfiction, including books on self-help and career advancement, memoirs, books for women, and scholarly texts; novels and collections of short stories; books for children, including picture books and middle grade novels; spiritual books; books of poetry; film scripts; and manuals. She also designs promotional materials, such as postcards, brochures, business cards and bookmarks. Jill's work includes book cover design, for which she works closely with graphic artists, fine artists and photo editors.
